Vogue Paris 1920-2020: a retrospective seen through its key players
Vogue Paris magazine has been creating, analysing and anticipating fashion trends for over a century now. The exhibition offered by the Palais Galliera is based artifacts from the archives of the magazine, presenting more than 400 photographs, illustrations, magazines, films and documents as well as a selection of haute-couture items. It focusses on the key players who made the magazine what it is today, including editors, photographers, illustrators and, of course, the recurring iconic personalities who have featured on the magazine’s covers.
Vogue Paris: a mirror of its times
Through this exhibition, the Palais Galliera also aims to highlight concepts of beauty, taste, elegance, and editorial and aesthetic choices. There is also a look at the great couturiers who have received the magazine’s support through the years, such as Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint-Laurent. Finally, there is also a fascinating insight into what makes this long-lived magazine so special, including the consistency of its messages and its commitments across generations.
The Palais Galliera, one of the most recent museums established by the City of Paris, once again offers a cutting-edge and rich exhibition that will delight fashion enthusiasts as well as those who are simply curious. From the sumptuous galleries of this Beaux-Arts-style palace, bathed in natural light, to the formal gardens, this gorgeous place is an open invitation to take your time and admire the surroundings! All this awaits you about fifteen minutes by Metro from your Chess Hotel.
