A meeting place for artists and creators, FIAC returns to the Grand Palais for its 43rd edition this year, cementing its status as the essential modern and contemporary art event. In addition to its merchant aspect, FIAC radiates artistically in every part of the capital - and beyond. The Grand Palace - home of contemporary art
From October 20th to 23rd 2016 art is in the air and under the famous arches at the Grand Palais, much to the delight of lovers of contemporary art as well as collectors and art world professionals. More than 184 galleries from 25 countries will present a selection of their established and most promising new artists in a bid to make contemporary art more accessible. You don’t have to buy; you can simply go along to see the massive range of work on show. The fair showcases all genres including sculpture, painting, video, installation, photography, performance and digital arts. Highlights include the award of the Marcel Duchamp Prize for an outstanding artist living and working in France. A chance for you to explore new art in all its forms!
An event without walls
The International Contemporary Art Fair strengthens its identity in a unique and sustainable manner by also exhibiting in some of the city’s most famous places – the choice of venues is renewed annually. Discover an exhibition route that takes in prestigious spaces in the heart of Paris and enhances them with performances, artistic film screenings, sculptures, artist conferences and much more. For example, you’ll find a series of external works in the Tuileries gardens while the banks of the Seine, the Place Vendome and the Jardin des Plantes will unveil their own takes on “modern art”. Meanwhile, the Pompidou Centre, the Palais de Tokyo and the Palace of Versailles will adapt and harmonise their programming to coincide with the start of FIAC. And finally, for night owls, the event plans to open some art galleries from 18.00 to 22.00.
