The Chess Hotel offers a wide range of quality services designed to help you make the most of your stay with us. One of our most popular services is Chess Tea Time. Every day between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm our team is delighted to welcome you to a gourmet break; an opportunity to sit back, relax and indulge yourself with delightfully tempting treats and quality products. It’s tea-time in Paris and you are invited to participate in this very special time of day.
Take some time out with choux à la crème and a cup of tea
It might still be a little chilly outside but within the Chess Hotel you can always be assured of a warm welcome. When this welcome comes in the form of afternoon tea and a spot of indulgence then it is surely twice as charming. Sit back, watch the world go by, and enjoy.
The tea we offer is supplied by Mariage Frères. This company was established by the Mariage family in the 17th century and to this day is driven by an aesthetic sense of refinement and a quest for perfection. Today the company supplies tea produced in more than thirty countries, along with the famous Mariage blends, and is a beacon for tea connoisseurs.
While sipping your tea or fruit juice, why not enjoy an exquisite Popelinichoux à la crème from a choice of five different flavours? Popelini was the Italian chef who first created cream puffs all the way back in 1540. In 2011 the shop that bears his name was founded in the Upper Marais by Lauren Koumetz. Now in two locations, this fabulous shop offers a new wrinkle on the traditional pastry, being devoted exclusively to the production of what are considered to be the finest cream puffs -“choux à la crème” in Paris.
