The Nuit Blanche in Paris
Categories : Events, published on : 9/15/19
There is only one night of the year when the Chess Hotel team will advise you not to enjoy the comfort of your room, and in 2019 it will be October 5th to 6th. This is the Nuit Blanche (White Night) organised by the City of Paris; a timeless evening of real enchantment...
Art, races, cycling; an exceptional Nuit Blanche
Every year since 2002, the City of Paris has commissioned an artistic director to invite artists, choreographers and other creatives to highlight a monument, a building, a piece of public space. The public is invited, free of charge, to wander as they please, discovering installations and performances throughout the city and generally making the most of this amazing all-night festival of art and culture. Once again, the Nuit Blanche offers a programme of vibrant originality and this year movement is in the spotlight.
The 18th edition of the Nuit Blanche
Two events among the many that will electrify this exceptional night have particularly caught the attention of the Chess Hotel team. Firstly, there’s Grande Traversée, a non-competitive race that will take you on either or both of two 9 km routes around 10 classic Parisian monuments or museums. Of course, sporting performance not really the goal of this physically and intellectually challenging race. Then, in an exceptional innovation, the Peripherique Parisien will be completely closed to traffic from 19:00 to 06:30 to let cyclists ride on the huge ring road at their own pace and discover original temporary illuminations.
The Nuit Blanche has many surprises. You’ll find plenty of information on the event’s website but please feel free to ask the advice of the Chess Hotel team during your stay.
